CHRIST CHURCH

ANNUAL MEETING HELD COROMANDEL ANGLICANS OFFICERS FOR ENSUING YEAR Lie annual meeting of parishioners of Christ Church was held in the Sunday School room, Coromandel, on Thursday, April 23. In the absence of the vicar, who is in camp, Mi’ S. Strongman Snr., took the chair. The secretary, Mr A. K. Norris, presented the (balance-sheet for the year ending March 31, 1942. After discussion, which showed the very satisfactory results of the year’s activities, the balance-sheet was adopted. Although Rev. W. R. Castle had been in camp since October last, services had been held every Sunday, without a vicar, and this had proved satisfactory. It was decided to carry on in the same way for the present. Altogether the position had improved in spite of the difficult year.

It was reported that Rev. Corbin from Thames had. paid three visits to Coromandel and conducted services during the absence of Rev. Castle.

The election of officers resulted as follows: —Vicar’s warden, Mrs Grattan (re-elected); parishioners’ warden, Mr S. Strongman Snr.; members of vestry, Mrs Anderson, Mrs Peachey, Mrs French, Mrs Inglis (all •re-elected) and Mrs Lucas. A vote of thanks and appreciation was passed with acclamation to Mrs Lucas for acting as organist for the last twelve months.

A vote of thanks was also passed to Mr Norris, who had carried out the duties of secretary for the past year in a very efficient manner.

Several donations had been given to church funds and it was hoped to have the graveyard cleared and tidied etc., as soon as the labour could be secured.

The meeting then closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
