Patriotic Committee

The monthly meeting of the Paeroa District Patriotic Committee was held in the Coronation Chambers on Monday night, the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, presiding. Others present were Mesdames E. Edwards, G. Bennett, J. R. 'Kidd, T. Short, J. R. Nelson, Miss G. Lamb, Messrs T. A. Barrett, W. Aston, D. Prime, J. R. Kidd, A. T. Jones, C. A. Blackwood, R. L. Darley, A. A. Jenkinson, A. E. Day, Canon W. G. H. Weadon, Rev. J. R. Nelson, Major T. R. Moore and the secretary, Mi’ R. S. Nicol. On Good Safe Ground

Responding to a warm welcome on Wednesday last at Turua, the newlyinstituted vicar, Rev. R. K. Dobson, said that he had been told previously that the only thing detrimental about the Hauraki Plains was its unsuitability for calves and young children. Not possessing either, the reverend gentleman feels to be on good safe ground.

Power Board Meeting The monthly meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was held in Te Aroha on Tuesday the chairman, Mr J. Price, presiding. Others present were Messrs W. C. Kennedy, J. F. Mayn, P. R. Hawke, J. McCormick, J. Pohlen, T. A. Barrett, C. C. Webb, H. M. Corbett, the manager Mr R. Sprague and the chief engineer, Mr N. G. McLeod.

New Member Welcomed Prior to the commencement of ordinary business at the monthly meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board the chairman, Mr J, Price, extended a welcome to Mr C. C. Webb who has been appointed, to represent the Paeroa Borough Council on the board. Mr Webb suitably replied. " •- '

Army Vests Lost

Eighteen vests were lost off an Army truck this week somewhere between Paeroa and Morrinsville. Any person finding same should advise the Army Office, Paeroa.
