TROUBLE CLEANING DRAIN PROBLEM IN THE AWAITI FOREMAN’S MONTHLY REPORT I ’ “Work in the Awaiti area is being pushed along but in some of the drains it is impossible to make a complete job owing to the sticky nature of the clay,’ reported the foreman to the monthly meeting of the Thames Valley Drainage Board. The report continued: —
“Hayes’, Candy’s and Coldicutt’s floodgates have been cleaned. Hayes gate also needed adjusting and will be attended, to at an early date. The grating will also be put in order as .soon as possible. “Portion of Williams’ and Shilton’s •outlets have been cleaned and work is yet to be done on Poland’s outlet and the catchment to same.
“Handley’s outlet and catchment have been cleaned. The catchment portion was absolutely full of grass and mud and the farm side had been tramped in by cattle.
“Coldicutt’s outlet has been cleaned, as also had a portion of Munro’s. Portion of the catchment to Munro’s has had to be left until some water came into it, as it was impossible to work in it in its present condition.
