END OF SEASON

. RAILWAY TENNIS CLUB OFFICIAL CLOSING HELD The official closing of the Railway Tennis Club’s 1942 season took place last week-end. Perfect weather conditions prevailed and there was a good attendance of members 1 and visitors who enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon. A time limit points competition was conducted and resulted in a draw for the ladies, Mrs W. Morrison and Mrs S. Wheeler sharing the prize. The men also tied, but Mr J. Hill generously donated his share of the trophy to Pte. H. R. Calland (on leave). The president of. the club, Mrs S. Wheeler, welcomed the visitors and in a few well-chosen words 1 farewelled two keen members who have left to perform military service, Pte. Ray Calland and Mr Ben Vowles who is about to enter camp.

Pte. Calland replied thanking members of the Railway Tennis Club for the many good times he had spent with them and. hoped that it would not be long before he was back oh the courts again.
