Wheaten Dumplings These dumplings are delicious with soups and stews and are very easily made. For them will be required 4 oz. wheaten meal, 4oz. flour, 2oz. chopped suet, cooking fat, or dripping, salt and. pepper, IB teaspoonsful baking powder, 1 teaspoonful chopped parsley, i teaspoonful mixed herbs, and water to mix. Mix all dry ingredients together and mix to a fairly stiff dough with water. Divide into 8 to 12 pieces and roll into balls with floured hands. Cook for 30 minutes in the soup or stew. Alternatively the dumplings may be cooked in water, and served as a supper „.dish with some wellflavoured sauce, such as cheese sauce, caper sauce or tomato sauce. If cooking fat is used, cut and rub it into the mixed flour and wheaten meal.
