GROSS REVENUE £220,232 VALLEY POWER BOARD EFFECT OF WAR ON REVENUE “ The total gross electricity revenue for the year ended March 31, 1942, was £220,232 6s 7d, against £213,997 2s lid in 1941, an increase of £6235 3s Bd, whereas the nett revenue totalled £178,808 6s 7d against £178,393 16s Id in 1941, which leaves a nett increase of £414 10s 6d for the year,” reported the manager, Mr R. Sprague, to Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames . Valley Electric Power Board. The report continued: — “The reason for the small revenue increases is due to causes outside the board’s control, which I again wish to ■specify, viz.:—(1) Restriction of power by the Public Works Department; (2) Shortage of installation material and wiremen to install same. (3) The high cost of appliances and material. (4) the hesitancy of consumers to purchase appliances owing to the possibility of restrictions in the use of them. “In addition, reductions by way of discount was given consumers during the year, which has been shown in the nett revenue. The balance sheet is now being prepared and will come before the board for consideration at its next meeting.”
