APPEALS HEARD

MANPOWER COMMITTEE

SITTING HELD AT NGATE A

A sitting of the Paeroa Manpower Committee was held at Ngatea last week, the chairman, Mr Edwin Edwards, presiding. Associated with him were Messrs E. J. Wilton, J. J. Poland, and the secretary, Mr A. Ripley.

In the appeal of J. I. 'Fraser-Jones a farmer of Ngatea, decision was reserved for one week.

The appeal of R. Murray, a farmer in partnership at Waitakaruru was adjourned sine dine on condition that he remained in his' present occupation and continued to serve in the Home Guard.

‘An appeal by T. G. Walker, a farmer of Waitakaruru in partnership with his brother was withdrawn by consent of the committee, reservist not to be called before April 30, 1942.

A Turua farmer, N. T. Spencer, had his appeal adjourned sine die on condition he remains in his present occupation and continues to serve in the Home Guard.

The appeal of L. Main, a farmer, was dismissed on the condition that the reservist be not called before April 15, 1942 and to be released from camp not later than July 15, 1942. W.. M. Barriball, a farmhand was appealed for by his father, S. V. Barriball. The appeal was dismissed, reservist not to be called before May 15, 1942. . In the appeal of C. R. Challis ot Ngatea decision was reserved. James Newman appealed for J* Lawrence, a farm-hand. The appeal was dismissed on condition that reservist not be called before April 30, 1942, and to be released from camp not later than July 31, 1942. The appeal of W. M. Pearce, a farmer on his own account at Kerepeehi, was dismissed on condition that reservist not be called before May 31, 1942 and case to be reviewed on August 31, 1942. V. G. Rawlins, employed by his

father on a farm at Kerepeehi, had his appeal adjourned sine die on condition that he remains in his present occupation and joins the Home Guard, within seven days.
