ROWING CLUB IN PAEROA
MEETING IN ROYAL MAIL HOTEL (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of February 9, T 902.) One of the most popular Iboys in Paeroa has been selected, for the Ninth Contingent is Mr Reginald Darrow. Mr Darrow has held the postion of clerk in the Railway .Station for some considerable time and will be missedf from that office. trust that Mr Darrow will indeed benefit for showing his loyalty to the Crown, and volunteering, for the front, and hope that he will ibe spared the Boer bullets 'and sickness.
An effort is being made to resuscitate the defunct Paeroa Rowing Club and with that object in view a meeting is to be held in the Royal Mail Hotel tomorrow evening at half-past seven. A few years ago the club was in a flourishing condition, but for some reason it was allowed to fall through, and the funds in hand were handed to the library. Now, however, several rowing enthusiasts have taken the matter in hand, and there is every reason to believe that the club will be re-formed upon a satisfactory basis. We understand that Mr W. Cullen has already promised to donate rowing singlets to members of the club,* and no doubt this generousl offer will ibe much appreciated. We trust to see a large number at the meeting tomorrow evening.
