VOLUNTEERS FOR AMBULANCE
(To the Editor.) Sir, —There is a small body of people in Paeroa doing a work which is not brought to the notice of the general public to any great extent. I am referring to the work of the St. John Ambulance Association workers both men’s and women’s divisions. Some of these members have been attending lectures, others giving lectures and instructions to other members not so well informed for a number of years. All these efforts have been given without monetary reward of any kind and often at some expense to these public-spirited people. These workers may at any time be of very great value to the district and its inhabitants, as they are all skilled in first aid work. However, owing to the demands of the country for fighting men and men for the medical corps, the ranks of the local brigade are being badly depleted and the;main object of this letter is to make an urgent appeal for new members. There are probably a number of people who could take on this work, with profit to the community and much interest to themselves. —I am, etc., W. F. NORTH, Pres. St. John Amb. Assn. Paeroa, 3:2:42.
