The first trickles of evacuees are now reaching Thames. This weekend—even before it—women and children from Auckland have arrived to stay in this town with relatives and friends. Probably this action has been taken in response to the suggestion put forward by Mr Peter Jensen, secretary of the Thames E.P.S. • Evacuation Sub-Cbmmittee, that people would l be wise to invite their relatives down now and not wait until an actual crisis arose, because it would not then ibe possible to pick and choose.—Thames Star.
