PAEROA INSTITUTE
ANNUAL MEETING HELD OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED The annual meeting of the Paeroa Women’s Institute was fairly well attended, the president Mrs R. E. Short occupying the chair. Two new members were enrolled. Meeting day was changed back to its original day, the third Tuesday. Mrs Turton* was appointed delegate to the Auckland Federation bi-annual ■council meeting in May. The annual report, presented by the secretary, revealed another successful year and a sound financial position was shown by the balance sheet. The president in a short address gave a resume of the year’s activities and thanked all office-bearers and the committee for their co-operation. Mrs Marsh won the aggregate and points entry prizes for the year. Mrs Blackmore, president of Auckland District Federation spoke on cooperation and Women’s Institute affairs. A beautiful shoulder spray was presented to Mrs Blackmore. It was decided to enter a table for competition at the May council meeting, the stewards appointed being Mesdames Chase and McKenna. Mrs R. E. Short was re-elected (upopposed), president for the ensuing year, with the following officers, vicepresidents, Mesdames Marsh and Le Brun; secretary and treasurer, Mrs B. Chase (re-elected); committee, Mesdames Christian, G. Elvidge, F. Homer, Lipsham, G. Mitchell and C. Nield. Mrs Mitchell was elected press correspondent. Votes of thanks were accorded the retiring committee members, the audital, Mr R. S.' Nicol and. the Gazette.
Afternoon tea was served by the retiring committee.
