STOCK SALE
MORRINSVILLE VALUES
LARGE ENTRIES RECEIVED
LATE RATES MAINTAINED
Large entries in all classes were received by the Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Auctioneering Company Ltd., at the Morrinsville sale on Friday. A medium entry of fat sheep, comprising mostly of fat wethers, came forward. Competition "was very firm and late rates fully maintained. A good yarding of store lambs met a better reception at advanced prices. Fully the advertised entry of 10,000, breeding ewes including lines from the East Coast, and Southern districts were received. There was a large attendance, whilst a total clearance was effected, prices in most cases were hardly as good as the opening local sheep fairs. No doubt owing to the inclemency of the weather the sheep did not look their best, this being particularly noticeable in the case of 2-tooth ewes. Top price of the sale in this section was 36s 6d, this figure being obtained for a choice consignment ex Feilding.
A small yarding of cattle with a shortage of prime quality beef was received. Fat Jersey cows, however, were keenly sought by local butchers whilst, boner cows and potter bulls realised flrm, late rates.
A small penning of dairy cows and heifers comprised mostly of animals in milk. They met a steady market, and considering the lateness of the season prices must be considered as satisfactory.
A medium yarding of fat pigs was received. Bidding for baconers and buttermilk pigs was keen and prices remained! firm at late rates, but porkers showed a slightly easing tendency.
