BULGES ARE OUT
NO EXCUSE TO-DAY MODERN SCIENCE ASSISTS “ Some are born with bulges, some achieve bulges, some have bulges thrust upon them by -, ill-fitting corsets.” But certain it is that you have no excuse for bulges now that there are such gentle ways deftly to ease them right out of existence. Once it was “bones or bulges” and most of us, alas, in the general laxity after the last war, preferred the bulges and look what happened; some of us have not recovered yet. But to-day you would really have to X-ray a foundation to discover* its bones; you would scarcely find them by feel alone, they are so fine and flexible and tucked away so ingeniously into the lining. And even then you would miss most of them —for very few of the modern “bones” are metal at all. In fact, metal bones have become quite passe (except for .the really large figures) ever since they discovered that clever method of weaving firm bands into a stretchfabric that could do the work- of bones without all the disadvantages. This “fabric-boning” simply revolutionised foundations for medium to heavy* figures, and earned the undying- gratitude of many a lady rebellious to bones.
Then there are a host of two-way-stretch garments, some almost paperthin; once rather ’spensive but nowdescended to one’s own humble level, and a perfect joy to wear and care for, being supple and soft as silk and entirely washable. They are the thing 'to smooth up one’s ribs, taper •one down from waist to thigh and yet leave the “body-beautiful” utterly unhampered on the sports ground. And one of the new brassieres will take away that flat, dispirited look and give you the new young up-and-for-Ward effect that goes with the new youthful clothes. And if you don’t believe it could do that for you, you just have not seen the new brassieres!
