WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

PAEROA At the Paeroa Women’s Institute’s meeting for July Mrs Wheeler presided over a large attendance. A welcome was extended to Mrs A. H. Blackmore, president of the Auckland District Federation, and to Mrs Ayres, a member of the executive. Mrs Wheeler presented both visitors with a spray of violets, daphne and maiden-hair fern.

Mrs 1 Blackmore, gave a very interesting talk on organisation and cooperation between members and officers.

Quite a number' of new members joined up and members were reminded that the August meeting was “members’ day.” . Items were given by members of the Awhina institute and community singing was a feature of the afternoon.

The prizewinners bf the monthly competitions were.—Sponge, Mrs Marsh; frock, Mrs Spings; best bloom, Mrs Brown.
