MOCK WEDDING
THAMES REVELLERS AT TURUA BUSINESS QUEEN’S BENEFIT The dance organised by the business queen’s committee at Turua on Tuesday night, was -well patronised by local residents and visitors from Thames and other Hauraki Plains centres. The mock wedding staged by Mr Wyvern de Clive Lowe and his troupe of Thames Revellers, created great amusement and was loudly applauded. Several telegrams, read at the “breakfast,” said to have been received from various politicians and prominent local citizens were the highlight of this entertainment. The bride’s bouquet comprising vegetables in season, was auctioned several times and then presented with the proceeds to the business queen, Miss Dorothy Mules. Mr C. Robertson who was M.C., expressed' the appreciation of the crowd and thanked Mr de Clive Lowe and his company for their efforts. The “wedding party” later danced with those present to music supplied by the Hot Shots Orchestra from Thames. A statue La Rinka was won by Mr Rockley and, Mrs Lomas of Thames.
Among those present were Miss Dorothy Mules, mauve lace, and ladies of the committee, Mrs Dando, ciel blue crepe; Mrs H. Mules, gold satin; Mrs Sweet, brown floral; Mrs Jones, wine frock; Mrs Hessell, olive green frock.
Others were Mesdames Fox, Glasgow, Mules Snr., C. Scott, Gray, Welch, Hill, Marceau, Death, Reid, Flynn, Kirby, T. Hayes (Thames), W. Elvin (Thames), Duncan, D. Wallace, Clarke, Blythe, Schmidt, Pye, McNaughton, H. Prenter (Ngatea), D. Death (Hikutaia), Nicholson, Workman, Lomas '(Thames), and Misses M'adgwick, Olwyn Murray, M. Taylor (Thames), Whelan (Thames), Bcneham (Ngatea), Green, M. Murray, G. Hale, Jackson, Hudson,- Reid, Elvin, Death, Vowles.
