FOOTBALL CLUBS MEET CONVENT 0.8. AND WEST MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AIM Rugby was in the air at Paeroa last week when the annual meeting’s of the Convent Old Boys and West Football Clubs were held. A feature of both was the large attendance of players and interested supporters. At the former meeting Mr W. P. Pennell presided over more than 40. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr A. J. Maiden; vicepresidents, Messrs T. Scanlan and W. Bain; secretary, Mr Jas. Verran; treasurer, Mr A. Dance; club captain, Mr D. McKay; committee, Messrs C. Goldfinch (chairman); A. Armour, J. Marshall, W. Donnelly and E. Shaw; auditor, Mr iG. A. Furby. The balance sheet showed a credit of £7 10s.

It was agreed that to strengthen the personnel of the Paeroa Rugby Union’s management committee an endeavour should be made to get active members of the public appointed irrespective of any connection with a club.

There was an attendance of nearly 40 at the West club’s meeting, the president, Mr Edwin Edwards, presiding. The election of ’ officers resulted:—Patron, Mr J. Peach; vicepatron, Mr E. V. Sly field; president, Mr Edwards; vice-presi-dents, Messrs Wi Warner, H. Wearn, W. J. Forrest, H. M. Shand and J. W. Silcock; joint secretaries, Messrs J. Sinnett and H. E. Verran; selectors, Messrs Sinnett and R. Montague (senior), Verran (junior) and G. McKee (third grade).
