SUCCESSFUL SINGER
DANNY MALONE’S CAREER’ CONCERT AT PAEROA TO-MORR A familiar theme in motion pictures is the story of the unknown singer who is suddenly discovered and rocketed to fame overnight, but it is seldom that such good fortune transpires in real life. There is at least one exception, Danny Malone, who will appear at the Regent Theatre tomorrow. One day in 1933, when singing in the streets of London for a bare existence, Danny Malone was discovered by Basil Charles Dean, the Australian composer. So impressed, was Mr Dean that he immediately arranged a radio audition for his find. As a result the next night Danny Malone was “on the air.” His success was immediate.
To-morrow night Danny Malone will be assisted by an overseas company of. concert artists. The O’C'arrolls (Eileen and Robert Emmett), harp and violin ensemble; Ted- Pratt, entertainer; and Len Lehman at the piano.
