DAIRY PAY-OUTS

BUTTER AND CHEESE CABINET FIXES PRICE RISE OF THREE FARTHINGS 13.25 D AND 7.54 D PER POUND. Dairy produce pay-outs for the current season have been announced by the Cabinet after a sitting lasting five hours on Saturday as follows: Butter, 13|d per lb. Cheese, 7.54 d per lb., which should return an equivalent of 15.88 d per lb. of butterfat compared with 13..88d per lb. for butter. The price announced for butter represents an increase of 11-16ths d. per lb. over the pay-out fixed for last season. It is the same as 123 s per cwt. f .o.b. New Zealand ports compared with 117 s 3d per cwt. for last season. The price of 13.88 d per lb. shows an increase over the amount paid out .last year, about Is Id, and shows that the Government has allowed for the increased costs borne by dairy farmers. The cheese price of 7.54 d per lb. is higher than that for last year, 6.81 d, by nearly §d.
