THAMES COAST ROAD

RETICULATION WITH POWER FURTHER EFFORTS TO BE MADE Reticulation of the Thames Coast by electricity was given consieeration by the Thames Valley' Electric Power Board yesterday when Mr H. M. Corbett asked what the position was. The chief engineer, Mr N. G. McLeod, replied that the position was not very satisfactory. Mr B. D. Chapman, in whose hands the arrangements for a further canvass had been left, had declined to continue as he had asserted that other' people were taking the credit for the work already done. Mr McLeod added that the board looked to Mr Chapman as the only person authorised to carry on the canvass. At present the position was the same as it had been before the Christmas holidays.

Mr H. R. Bush: Mr Chapman has gone to endless trouble over the canvass. He considered that if the area were reticulated a number would come in which at present would not give the necessary guarantee. The board had the necessary loan money available should the erection of the line be warranted, the chairman, Mr J. Price, stated in reply to Mr Corbett.

“If we put in the line it would be the best canvasser,” Mr Corbett asserted. Arrangements for a canvass by circular letter assisted by Messrs Bush and J. McCormick were authorised.
