MUSIC RECITAL

CONCERT AT HIKUTAIA. The Hikutaia Hall was crowded last Thursday night, when Miss Rita Smith held her annual pianoforte and violin recital. The programme, which was contributed solely by her pupils, was a most attractive one and won generous applause from the large audience. The excellent standard and smooth interpretation of the items rendered displayed great care in preparation, and great credit is due to Miss Smith for having secured such a high standard. At the conclusion of the programme Mr Harold Smith, oh behalf of Miss Smith, thanked all present for their attendance, and the Paeroa pupils presented Miss Smith with a beautiful bouquet. Master V. O’Loughlin, of Paeroa, was announcer for the evening. A dainty suppe'r was served to the pupils and Christmas greetings brought to a close the very pleasant evening. Alley; recitation, “Bad Sir Brian Botany,” and encore, “Friends,’’ Master D. Dormer; pianoforte duet, Dancing Stars,” Miss V. Alley and Master G. Alley; pianoforte solo, “March,” Master Innis Morrison; vocal duet (special request), “Glad Message,” Misses L. Gubb and L.
