JUDGING ON THE HOOKS
WAIKATO BEEF AND LAMB 1 In his report on the entries in the special Office Cup class for bullocks suitable for chilled meat at the Waikato Summer Show, Mr G. H. Kneebone, supervising grader of fat stock of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company, Ltd., states that all beasts were good type cattle for the chilled beef trade, although the quality and finish of some pens were not up to show standard. 'Mr H. Windsor, whose entry won the first prize on the hoof at the show also gained first place in the judging on the hooks at the works. The order of placing at the works was: H. Windsor, 1; J. C. Potts, 2; Thomas Bros., 3; Whewell Bros., 4. In remarking on the quality and type of lamb in class 183 A for export lamb class at the show, Mr Kneebone states that the quality and type of lamb in the competition were very good and with the exception of several over-weights all were-,' of a high standard and good export carcases. However, most of the pens were rather uneven in type and condition. The following was the order of placing: J. B. Smith, 1; W. Reid, 2; Ruakura Farm, 3; Thomas Bros., 4.
