BURGLARY AT NGATEA

MEAT COY.’S SHOP AGAIN. A SMALL HAUL. Once again the butchery shop at Ngatea has been broken into by burglars. Last Tuesday morning an employee of the Hauraki Plains Meat Company discovered that the zinc gauze in the back door of the shop had been broken, there being a hole sufficiently large for a man to squeeze through. The haul was a small one, for all that could be stolen was 4s in silver which was lying on the counter and was not discovered, and five pennies and eleven penny stamps, which were found. A number of dockets were scattered about the floor. This shop has been broken into on numerous occasions in the same manner and in every case the loss has been very small. The Meat Company’s Turua shop was broken into in a similar manner on January 26 and £6 18s in cash, some cheques and a cheque book was ,stolen.
