ELECTRIC POWER CHARGES.

[To the Editor.] Sir, —In a press report of a Meeting addressed by the officials of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board to the public of the Thames coast a definite offer was made that the minimum charge for electricity would be £1 per year. It is very necessary that the public of all the other ’ districts should be told why this concession is made to bach owners of Thames, as all other users are charged a£3 minimum. Perhaps if they can get away with this they will give the poor bach owner an extra discount for being, in such penury circumstances and receiving such small rents as 25s to 50s per week, which is just sufficient to keep them off the unemployment relief funds. Of course, we all know property of any - 4Mnd is hard to sell now and one canJflOt live on the coast view. What I want to know is what are ■ the farmers’ representatives on the Board doing to let this anomaly get through. There are times when officials talk in technicalities and a maze of figures, and anyone not prepared I will be thrown off their balance and the opportunity momentarily lost, but surely something can be. done to cut out minimum charges. Why should ' the man on relief or anyone else, be charged 200 per cent, more than the man who can afford to own a bach down the Coast ? This makes the struggling man think. PUZZLED, dffurua.
