WOMEN’S WORLD

At the residence of Mrs C. N. O’Neill on Tuesday last members of the Paeroa Ladies’ Bridge' Club met. Mrs S. J. Hedge and Mrs O’Neill were hostesses. The prizes were won by Mrs O’Neill, first, and Mrs E. Parry second.

Mr and Mrs A. Otter, of Waitakaruru, are shortly to leave for Auckland where they intend taking up residence .

Mr and Mrs H. Jesen and family cf Waitiikaruru. together with Mrs A. Jesen, also of Waitakaruru, are at present on an extensive tour of Taranaki and Wellington provinces.

“Aunt Daisy,” of 2YA, Wellington, well known to radio enthusiasts, is, together with her daughter, at present spending a holiday at Ngatea with her husband, Mr F. Basham, County engineer.

’The leap year dance held in the Hikutaia Hall last evening was a very enjoyable function. There was a very fair atendance, and a splendid programme of dance music was supplied by Claude Fisher’s popular Collegians. The euchre prizes were won by Mr E. Bax and Miss Handley.

A very pleasant evening was spent last Saturday at the residence of Mr T. Killgour, Komata. North, in honour of the twenty-first birthday of his youngest daughter Nellie. , Over forty guests were present, coming from .Hikutaia, Thames, and Paeroa. Items were rendered by Mrs T. Royal, Miss K. Hunter, Messrs Royal, Jutson, Kibble, Jones, Gibson and F. Berry . Mr Hunter presided at the piano. During the evening Mr Jutson thanked the host on behalf, of all present and Mr T. A. Killgour very ably responded for Mr and Miss Killgour. A very enjoyable evening was brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”

Mrs ]ML Wallace, teacher at the Karangahake school, who has received notice of transfer to Ngaruawahia, was the guest ofthe people of the district at a farewell function in the school on Tuesday and was presented with a crystal bowl on a bronze stand 1 . Mr Wallace was presented with a shaving outfit. The function took the form of a dance and progressive euchre tournament and the- school was prettily decorated* for the occasion. The euchre prizes were jwbn by Mrs Bramble and Mr S. -Myers and a Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr J. Cotter and Miss Cotter .
