EUCHRE AND DANCE.

FUNCTION AT HIKUTAIA. . A very successful Christmas hamper euchre and dance, organised by Messrs C. Alley and J. Vedder and Mrs Jeff Murdock, was held in the. Hikutaia Hall last week. The winners of the euchre prizes were: Mrs Pascoe (first), Mrs Grant (second), both of Paeroa, and Mr Dick Bax * first i in the gentlemen’s section (the prize being presented by Mrs Harold, of Netherton) and Mr Toka White second (the prize being presented by Mr Homer of the Hikutaia Farmers* Store). Consolation prizes went to Mrs A. Alley and Mr Verran. In the novelty dances, Miss Ivan and partner won the first Monte Carlo. The spot waltz was won by Mrs Shaw and partner, and a second Monte Carlo waltz by Mr and Mrs J. Miller. The lucky door prize was won by Miss Potter, of Netherton, and the guessing competition for a was won by Miss A. Corbett, of Thames. The music was supplied, by the Blue Sparks Orchestra, which rendered excellent music full of mirth and sparkle. Mr Rooney played a couple of extras in his fine old style. Mr Tonkins gave a vocal item, which was much appreciated, and for an encore he gave “Mother Machree,” the accompaniments being played by Miss Tonkins. Mr Harold, of Netherton, - was in charge of the euch’v, trd Mr A. Hunter, of Thames, carried out the duties of M.C.
