THE PAEROA SHOW.
HAURAKI A. AND P. FIXTURE. ARRANGEMENTS FOR DAY. Arrangements for the Hauraki A. and P. Association’s 33rd annual show on Wednesday, December 9th, were advanced at an executive meeting last evening, Mr B. E. Veale, president of the Association, presiding. There were present Messrs D. G. McMillan, W. A. Reid, C. W. Neaber, H. J. Hare, E. Jamieson, C. Townshend, D. Sheehan, H. H. Sutton, W. Crimmins, W. J. Noble, and E. Edwards (secretary). Chopping Events. In reply to the secretary’s enquiry, Mr P. Silva, Pukekohe, wrote supplying details of how to run chopping events, and how to procure blocks, etc. He offered to get into touch with ether choppers in the province, and .also to come to Paeroa two days before the show to arrange the blocks. The secretary reported having secured the ready co-operation of a large number of well known choppers. Lieut. V. J. Innes had agreed to act as chief steward, Messrs A. Alley and J. Bailey as judges, and Mr. M. Ellis as starter. Programmes had been sent to all the well-known choppers and a great many entries had been received already. The blocks and the dummies had been ordered. Fathers in arranging these details was approved, Mr Neaber in moving this expressing the view of members that the position was very satisfactory. Other members commented on the great interest which was being taken in these events., It was decided that the first heat of the first chopping event be held at 11.15 a.m., and thereafter at approximately half hour intervals, care being taken not to have the chops clashing with the major ring events. Side Shows. Numerous applications were received for space for side shows and trade exhibits. Judges. The secretary reported that most of the men approached had agreed to act as judges. The list was not yet complete. Resignations. The resignations of James Twohill and A. and G. Price, Ltd., of Thames, were accepted with regret. Women’s Institute. The Paeroa Women’s Institute applied for and was granted space at the showground at which to conduct •t stall on behalf of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind. Working Bees. Working bees were arranged. Mr McMillan undertook to have the cattle pens denned and repaired on the day after the next stock sale. The main working bees will be on Saturday, December sth. and. Monday. 7th. Messrs Neaber and McMillan were deputed to meet exhibitors nt the railway station and arrange for the paddocking of the exhibits. Catering. The secretary was deputed to nr•nnge for an afternoon tea stall and for the provision of hot water for picnickers. Time of Starting. The necessity for commencing the judging of the cattle nt the schedule time was stressed by members, in order that the parade be held at the proper time, and it was agreed that exhibitors be notified of this decision. The Schedule. The secretary reported that the schedule had been printed. Over £4O of advertisements had been received, and this was more than sufficient to pay for all the printing required for the show.
