SATURDAY’S FOOTBALL.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Your paper, I think, is the proper medium for expressing disapproval of the bill of fare served out to football enthusiasts by the local football powers that be last Saturday. Were it not for the loyalty of some enthusiasts, past their prime, but still a match for the best otherwise offering, the whole programme would have been a scream. Judging by the attendance, the “shrewdies” seem to have got the //chat’,’, that, the programme as scheduled was not to eventuate, which only, of course, caused those who parted with entrance money to look the more foolish.; Can an explanation be given, or is the Rugby Union a collection of incompetents, without the control of or the confidence of players SAXPENSE. i Paeroa, 31/8/31.
