A WIN FOI? PLAINS JUNIORS. THAMES DEFEATED. In a game in which the style of play was very similar to that in the senior match, Plains defeated Thames ' by 11 points to nil. The teams lined out as follows: — Thames: Graham, Merriman, Phillips, Rare, Edwards, Kelly, Pratt, Boswell, Doddrell, Robson, Chalies,' Harrigan, Hikairo, Edkins. The team lined out without a rover. Plains: C. Hamilton, Williams, McDonald ( Rhind, Hayes, McPherson, Dawson, D.’ Dudding, K. Caie, Olsen, Pett, Waikato, F. Dudding, Riddle, M. Caie. v ■ ' . The Plains forwards were the strength of the team, going into the game solidly from start to finish. Weak tackling was the failing point of the Thames boys, while the forwards failed to pack and the backs to go down to forward rushes. The fact of being a man short appeare dto have an effect on the confidence of the Thames players in their team. The Plains boys were out to win, worked solidly for their eleven points, and were unlucky not to have put up a bigger score. It would be difficult to select the best players from among the forwards, every man doing his own share. The backs were not quite so strong, though at no time were they badly pressed. C. Hamilton frequently came up from full back into the attacking line of backs,-showing that the team had nothing to fear. Tries for Plains were scored by' Olsen, K. Caie, and McPherson, E. Pett converting one try. The final score was: Mr A. Cleave was rbferee. Plains, 11; Thames, 0.
