ACTRESS FROM BIRTH.
BEBE DANIELS WAS'BORN for The stage. At the age when most babies are reaching for a rattle Bebe Daniels was basking in a theatre spotlight and liking it. The star comedienne, who plays opposite Douglas Fairbanks in his latest picture, “ Reaching for the Moon,” for United Artists, was born to cut delightful capers and, to win the love and admiration of people. When asked one day how she began her career, Bebe said it was long before she could remember, as she was only ten weeks old when she portrayed an infant in a stage play with perfect realism. Her parents were stage artists. Miss Daniels was born in Dallas, Texas. Reared in the environment of the theatre, she became a child actress with stage companies, and took the) child lead in “ A Common Enemy,” and at seven years was the youngest Shakespearean actress in the world. Necessarily, her education was at the hands of private tutors, although for a time she was in a convent in Los Angeles. She became a screen player while she was still in short skirts, and grew up to stardom- as a natural part of her destiny. Comedies proved her best vehicles, although as she progressed she developed a splendid sense of drama. After establishing herself as one of the foremost attractions of the screen, she was placed under long-term contract by Paramount, and for several years she had her own unit.
With the coming of talking pictures Miss Daniels was sought' by R.K.0., and her first stellar vehicle, “ Rio, Rita,” was a tremendous success. United Artists«borrowed her-ser-vices for the feminine lead in “ Reaching foi- the Moon,” and she is a fit screen mate for the. dynamic Doug, having beauty, courage, and unusual ability. Bebe Daniels is an athletic type of modern girl, riding, swimming, and plpying tennis like an expert. Her hair is black’ her eyes'brbwn, and her height 5 feet 3 inches. Her devotion \to her mother is one of the finest traditions of the film colony. They are of Spanish descent. Several months ago Bebe was married to Ben Lyon, film leading man. They entertain a great deal, go. inYor outdoor sports, and keep their careers absolutely separate.
