THE DAVIES CUP.
SUPER FINE CREAM COMPETITION
AVERAGES FOR THE SEASON.
At Wednesday evening’s function in the Ngatea Hall the Davies' Cup, a trophy donated by Mr R. L. Davies, of Kerepeehi, some years ago for annual competition among groups of settlers supplying the Ngatea buttter factory, was presented to the Pipiroa group, which had supplied during the past season such good cream that 96.72 per cent, had been graded superfine.
Among the closely contending groups were the following : Hopai, 96.18 per cent. ; Kerepeehi 96.11 ; Orchard East, 95.99 : Patetonga North, 95.94 ; Pekapek;; Road, 95.55 ; and Canal Road, Waitakaruru, 95.34 per cent.
The lowest group, No. 18, had an average of 88.45 per cent.' superfine. Generally, the percentage was about five points above that of last year, and the highest last season was the Orongo group with 93..46 per cent.
