PAEROA RAINFALL.
A LIGHT MONTH RECORDED.
RAIN ON SIXTEEN DAYS.
The rainfall statistics for Paeroa for the month of June, as recorded by the local office of the Public Works Department, show that rain fell on 16 days during the month. The heaviest fall was on June 8, when I.U inches were recorded. The total rainfall for the month was 2.93 inches, which is 1.58 inches less than for the corresponding month last year. For the six months this year the total rainfall was 22.50 inches, being 1.93 inches less than for the first six months in 1926.
Tire prevailing wind durnig the month was one point south-westerly. The thermometer averaged 48.4 degrees, the highest reading being 58 degrees, on June 8, and the lowest reading 41 degrees, on June 17. The barometrical reading averaged 30.01 points. The highest reading was on June 6, 30.64 points, and the lowest reading on .lune 12, 29.77 points.
PLAINS REGISTRATIONS. Less rain fell on the Hauraki Plains last month than in any month of June since 1914. The total recorded at tire Lands Office, Kerepeehi, was 2.71 inches, compared with the average for June during the last 12 years of 4.83 inches. However, rain was recorded on 17 days, though only once did it exceed a quarter of an inch in the 24 hours. From the 20th onward there was rain every day with one exception, but only an inch fell in the period. The small amount of sun and the lack of a drying wind, together with the frequent showers, have given an impression that the month has been an exceptionally wet one.
