LAST NIGHT’S FUNCTION. ENJOYABLE EVENING SPENT. The first of a ; series of sOcia.l evenings organised by St. Many’s Church Social Committee was held at the Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, last night, there was a large attendance of the public, and a thoroughly enjoyable evening was spent. A record number of players took part in the euchre tournament, which was ably controlled by Mrs G. H. Taylor, assisted by Mrs BWkhout. At the conclusion of the competition .the following were declared winners: Ladies, Miss J. Walls, first,; Mrs Grundy, second. Men: J. Verran, first; B. Johnson, second. In addition to the euctire a large number of people; dance!' to the strains of a ; local, orchestra. Mr W. Pennell acted as M.C., and was most attentive to his duties. The, promoters are to be congratulated on the success that attended their efforts.
