The late Mr Scott was born at Thames, educated a ( t the Thames public schools, and for many years followed the occupation of a miner, working in most of the. well-known mines throughout the goldfields. .When the Hajiraki Plains sections were balloted for Mr Scott was successful in drawing a farm at Pipiroa, and was the first settler to commence fanning on the lower end of the. Plains. Unfortunately, his long association with mining had affected him with that dreadful malady
known on the field as “miners’ complaint,” which undermined his health some years ago, and was ultimately the cause of his death. Tire late Mr Scott was a Mason of many years’ standing, being a member of the Lodge df Light, Thames, and his many friends will regret his demise.
