PIPIROA.

PARENTS’ DAY AT SCHOOL. One of the happiest days in a schoolchild’s ' life is the last day of the school year, which this time falls next Friday. Though the boy loves the happy hours he spends at school and sometimes in mischief with his schoolmates, the thought of tossing aside his school books which cause him much unnecessary worry and sometimes pain, leaving his lessons for a whole six weeks, enraptures him.

At the Pipiroa school “breaking up”' day this year is to be “Parents’ Day,” 1 .-when the children will have their mothers, fathers, and guardians as their guests. Thirteen children at the Pipiroa school have been rearing calves. The Linseed Meal Company h.ad donated to each child a 561 b bag of meal’on which to rear .the calves, which appear to have done exceptionally well on the food. These calves will be judged on Friday, and prizes will be given for the best reared and the best dairy calves. Each child has also ,a garden plot, and these also will be judged on Friday. There is at present an exceptionally fine display of roses.

Mr W. Scott, of Thames, has been appointed judge ofl the gardens and calves.
