PAEROA DRAINAGE.
LOANS ARRANGED FOR. With the object of facilitating the finances of drainage work in Paeroa borough, the Mayor (Mr P. E. Brenan) and Councillor W. Marshall, accompanied by Mr H. Poland (member for Ohinemuri), interviewed the superintendent of the State Advances Department, Wellington, and made a satisfactory arrangement for a further advance of £lO,OOO this year for drainage works, and for a further £5OOO next year, or more if the maximum allowed to local bodies is raised, which" will bring the w;ork to a point at which it can be utilised for a- portion of the borough. The total amount required is £42,750, pf which £BOOO has been r ( aiseA. It is anticipated that the money will be available in two or three weeks’ time.
