LEAGUE FOOTBALL
CITY v. KIA ORA. In the match played on the Recreation Ground cn Saturday between the above teams, City showed much better combination than Kia Ora winning by 25 points to 7. City kicked off and Kia Ora brought play to midfield. From a scrum a passing movement by City put Kia Ora on the defensive. A free kick to Kia Ora, shifted play to safer ground and from a scrum they looked dangerous, but an infringement held up the movement. They had a free kick from which City secured and good passing put Kia Ora on the defensive. A free kick to Kia Ora relieved the position, but shortly afterwards City were back again, the ball crossing the line. Kia Ora forced and the 25 kick shifted play to midfield. City went on the offensive again and looked like scoring but good defence saved. A good run by a Kia Ora back relieved the position and he had a fair chance of scoring, but lost the ball. Play travelled up and down, each team attacking at intervals. Huntly had a free kick, which sent play to Taupiri territory. From a scrum Scott secured and made a good run but a knock on stopped the ‘movement. Shortly after a free kick to Taupiri shifted play to midfield. From a scrum Taupiri took, to Huntly territory where Smith secured and put in a good run to midfield, where he was grassed. Taupiri attacked, the ball going out near the corner. Good work by Huntly backs shifted play to safer ground. Play swung up and down, each tear I having a turn at defence. Whorskey made a good run from midfield, but

Play travelled across field and a free kick to Taupiri gave Tittleton a shot at goal, which failed. Huntly attacked, but a well placed kick by Garry sent the ball out at midfield. From the scrum Whorskey looked dangerous, but was stopped at the corner. A free kick to Taupiri shifted play to midfield. Taupiri went on the offensive, a well

A knockcn stopped the movement, and from che scrum Huntly returned play to midfield. Good work by Huntly backs put Taupiri on the defensive, but they proved equal to the occasion, and play returned to midfield. Halftime came w r ith Taupiri attacking.
Taupiri kicked off and attacked, Jackways being dangerous but strong defence by the home team saved. From a scrum Huntly shifted play to neutral territory, but shortly after Taupiri attacked again. After a short period of defensive play good work by Smith and Whorskey resulted in a try by the latter, which was converted, Huntly 5.
Taupiri’s kick sent the ball out in Huntly territory. An infringement by Huntly gave Tittleton an unsuccessiul shot at goal, Huntly forced, and from the 25 kick Taupiri attacked again and Jackways kicked a penalty goal, Taupiri 2, Huntly 5. Huntly kicked out and from the scrum went on the offensive, but good defence kept them from scoring. Play travelled to midfield, and Taupiri attacked, the ball going out. From the scrum Huntly attacked, and the ball crossed Taupiri line, but was forced by the defending side. Taupiri’s kick sent play to midfield and a good tun by Tittleton put Huntly on the defensive. Huntly cleared and at-
tacked, but an infringement gave Taupiri a free kick, which shifted play to midfield. They continued the movement but a mark brought this to an end. Play remained in Huntly territory and Tittleton kicked a goal from the field, Taupiri 4. Huntly kicked out, and from the scrum the backs got going and carried play to Taupiri territory. A free kick gave Knight a shot at goal which failed. Taupiri followed the 25 kick and Dwen took play to Huntly territory. An attack by Taupiri w as stopped by Whorskey, but shortly afterwards play returned to Huntly territory where Hill secured and kicked to Huntly 25, where the ball went out. From the scrum Huntly attacked and a fine attempt by Whorskey was brought to an end by strong defence. Taupiri had a free kick and Huntly looked like scoring, but a knock-on held up the movement. Huntly continued the attack until a breach gave Taupiri a free kick. Knight and Davies looked dangerous, but good defence held them. Taupiri broke away and play shifted to midfield, but shortly after Huntly w r ent on the defensive again. From a scrum Huntly attacked again, but Taupiri shifted play to midfield. Hill put Huntly on the defensive with a long kick and after a- short period cf offensive play Tittleton scored an unconverted try, Taupiri 7, Huntly 4. The game ended immediately afterwards.
