HUNTLY IS FORGING AHEAD! PUBLIC AUCTION IN THE PROSPEROUS TOWN OF HUNTLY. SATURDAY, Brl Fk Y I6th, 1931 AT A RECENT AUCTION HELD IN HUNTLY, Land i the Main Street was sold to eager bidders for prices rangm, from £25 to £3O per foot. . . CARBONISATION is about to commence business m tni district. THE CENTRAL ELECTRIC POWER BOARD have recentl; installed an auxiliary Electric Power Plant, which is now in ful swing. It will be called to mind that the Government realism) that auxiliary power plants will become an absoute necessity practically settled the sum of £200,000 for the erection of same Since the serious earthquake, this has become a more pressin; necessity. LAND IS STEADILY RISING IN VALUE IN lIUNTLY a newly-constituted borough, under the careful administratioi of a progressive Board, is forging ahead. Twice, in recent years rates have been reduced and prospects are bright for a furthei reduction—a most unusual event, especially in times of depres sion. IN THE FIRST WEEK IN MAY, A PUBLIC AUCTION WILL BE HELD, at which will be offered, on behalf of Mr. C P. Gavegan, of Auckland, approximately 28 sections, all of whicl are within a short distance of the Town Hall, and from the sec tions sold at the recent auction, 6 residential sections, situatec in William and Ralph Streets, the coming residential area; also a residence, standing in 25 acres, i mile from Mahuta Station which is now being renovated, and will be put up for auctior with the 25 acres or an acre. The balance will be sub-dividec in seven half-acre sections. An 18-acre farmlet will also be sold There are 12.1 acres opposite the Renown screens also for sale AMONG THE SECTIONS OFFERED are 14 or 15 with frontages to the Main Road, of 20 feet, which would provide excellent lock-up shop sites. These lock-up shops are increasing in popularity all over the country, reducing as they do, the overhead expenses to a minimum. An excellent recommendation foi this type of business comes from the earthquake area where lock-up shops, erected as temporary business premises, have proved so profitable that permanent lock-up shops are being planned in all quarters. Any person carrying on a large business in the Waikato district would find lock-up shops in Huntly a profitable investment. Extensive alterations and improvements to the RailwayStation and site at Huntly will shortly be carried out. Plans of improvements to the Station and its surroundings have already been approved by the Huntly Borough Council. It may come as a surprise to most readers to know that Huntly Station in the past has produced revenue to the Government to such a large figure that ONLY TWO OTHER STATIONS IN THE WHOLE OP’ NEW ZEALAND EXCEEDED the revenue -eceipts of the Huntly Station. Three years ago the Government received approximately a quarter of a million in revenue from the Huntly Station. How much greater will this figure become when Carbonisation Limited commences its distribution? All lhe.se improvements and activities about the surroundings of the Railway Station directly affect the sections offered, giving them excellent prospective values. At the last auction, local buyers eagerly bought up the lots offered, knowing their potential value as a sound and profitable “vestment. Surely the judgment of the local residents of Hunty should be a sure guide to induce others outside the district ;o follow this lead ? I his will probably be the last opportunity to select, at a reasonable figure, town sections in Huntly, as most of the sections ivailable have already been sold and owned singly, with the result that they cannot be acquired without an added cost on he middleman’s purchase price. Messrs. T. Mclndoe & Sons of 3ueen St., Auckland, are the auctioneers, and full particulars ind diagrams may be inspected at -their office or at the office ff the owner, C. P. Gavegan, Victoria St. East, Auckland, and or the convenience, of Huntly residents at the office of W C Davies, Land Agent, Huntly. Pamphlets are available at the offices of Messrs W. C Davies md J. King.
