FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Star of Huntly Lodge No. 56 was held in St. Paul’s Church Social Hall on Thursday, April 9th, the occasion being the elevation of P.A. Bro. J. Salmond to the office of District President for No. 15 district. It was a red-letter day for the Huntly Druids, as this was the first occasion on which a Brother of the above Lodge has held the great distinction of holding office as a District President. The usual business of the Lodge having been disposed of, the Brothers and Sisters of the Pride of Newcastle and Hamilton Lodges were announced and received a hearty welcome. Distinguished Brothers of the Order were also announced in the persons of Past Grand President T. H. Wilson V.G.P. Bro. G .H. Letharby and the following P.D. Presidents of Auckland:—Bros. G. W. Gregory, J. J. Potter, and J. T. Routledge and D. P. Bro. A. Rayner, of Ngaruawahia, who received in enthusiastic Druidic welcome to the Lodge. At this juncture of the meeting, the principal event of the evening was the installation of P.A. Bro. Salmond for the current term, the Master of Ceremonies being Bros. G. W. Gregory, P.D.P., of Auckland. A tableau, formed of P.A.’s of the different lodges represented, looked very imposing, P-D.P’s. Potter and Routledge acting as sponsors to P.A. Bro. Salmond. The installation was performed by the late District President, Bro. A. Rayner in a very efficient manner, after which V.G.P. G. H. Letharby gave a very interesting address on Grand Lodge and Lodge routine, which was very much appreciated. P.G.P. Bro. T. H. Wilson also gave a very interesting address. The installation ceremony having been completed, the Lodge closed and the Brothers and Sisters adjourned for supper. The usual toasts were duly honoured and a musical programme was provided by the following brethren:—P.D.P’s. Bro. G. W Gregory and J. J. Potter and Bros. .F Wilkinson, W. Cole, C. Sweeney, M. Patterson, and J. Park of the Huntly Lodge. A pleasant evening concluded at 12 o’clock and the function marked a further step in the history of Druidism in Huntly.
