HUNTLY BOWLING CLUB
Last week-end two teams travelled to Buckland to take part in a full rink tournament there, four games being played. The team skipped by J. Holland gave a good account of itself, winning three games and only losing the other one by two points. The only game of interest played on the local green was a game played for the buttons, the holders retaining the buttons by a small margin. Holders: Elliott, Hyde, W. Smith, J. Turton (s); Challengers—H. McDonald, J. Douglas R Boyd, T. Douglas (s). The Huntly bowlers will visit Taupiri for an inter-club match next Saturday, cars leaving the P.O. at 1.30 p.m.
At a committee meeting held on Tuesday night it was decided to engage Peden’s orchestra for the social to be held on April 30th in the Town Hall. It was also decided to call a combined meeting of bowlers, their wives, and ladies of the Croquet Club to make arrangements for the social. In connection "with the club competition, it was decided that all rounds now in progress must be finished by the 15th inst, when the final draw will take place.
