OHINEWAI NOTES

[Own Correspondent.] A very successful dance was held in the Ohinewai Hail on Tuesday evening, 23rd inst. The proceeds, added to donations, are to be forwarded to the Mayor of Nelson for the immediate relief of the earthquake suffereis. Old-time danees added to the usual good spirit shown at the O inewai dances. Many of the older settlers were present, who appeared to forget their ages in their endeavour to show the younger people the beauty of the dances indulged in in the days of their youth. Mr Gall, our veteran violinist, cheered the hearts of many as they listened to his renewed efforts at playing the old and well-known tunes, “We Parted on the Shore,” etc., for his old friends who readily took the floor.
