Huntly Welcome Patriotic Committee
A . meeting was convened by Messrs J. Brooks and A. Hogg at Mr Edwards’ Restaurant on Thursday night, 22nd inst., to form a working committee in order to give a send-off and welcome home to our brave soldier boys. There was a good attendance. Mr Hodgson proposed that Mr J. Brooks, seconded by Mr Sheeran, should take the chair, and carried. After a few prelimenarys had been gone into, Mr Sheeran moved that the committee to be selected should be called the Huntly Patriotic Welcome Committee —carried. The following gentlemen were elected a working committee : Mr J. Brooks (chairman), Messrs Hogg, Hodgson, Shand, Sheeran, Kneebone, Thomas, Timms and McNee. Mr McNee was elected secretary and Mr Sheeran treasurer. Mr Hodgson moved that the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer have the power to add to the committee if necessary —carried. It was decided to hold a Social and Dance, to take place in the Miners’ Hall on Wednesday, 28th to bid farewell to the Soldiers on final leave. Tickets —Gents 1/6 Ladies 1 -—no baskets.
