Month Road Board.
A meeting of the Huntly Rond Board was held on Saturday afternoon last, when Messrs J. P, Bailey, 1 L. B. Harris, Jr., and W. D. Thompson, were present. The Clerk reported that he had been successful in hiring a grader from the Kirikiriroa Road Board and that work had started the day before. With the assistance of several properly owners, who had provided horses to pull the grader and plough teams, the work was proceeding at a good pace, and it was expected that about 60 chains would be completed by that evening. It was decided if funds would permit to carry the work through to Rangiriri Bridge. The culvert at the mile pag on the Matahuraßoad from Ohinewai Station was reported to be in a bad way, and though not unsafe at present, it was likely to go through in a few weeks. The Clerk recommeded that the culvert be renewed in concrete, and instructions were given that the work be carried out in this material. It was decided also, to spend the available money at Te Hoe, in metalling as far as it will go. Several other small repairs were authorised. Attention was drawn to the fact that certain heavy traffic was now injuring the Matahuru Road. Members considered that it was time to get these matters regulated, and the Clerk was instructed to bring the matter before the County Council, with a view to having a by-law law passed, enabling them to regulate traffic on the roads under their control.
