Advertising New Zealand
In order to assist in bringing New Zealand and its attractions more directly under the notice of residents of Great Britain, Australia, Canada, the United States and other friendly countries, the Railway Department has obtained a supply of “ poster stamps ” containing views illustrating New Zealand country life, scenery, sporting facilities, etc. Two series of ten views each have been printed about two inches by one and-a-half inches. They make rather pretty and attractive little pictures and are calculated to arouse interest on the part of strangers under whose notice they come. In order to prevent waste, the Department has decided to make a charge of 5s per 500, or for the benefit of those who cannot use so many, at 80 for Is. The stamps are gummed, and to be stuck on the backs of envelopes, or on the tops of letters, so that they will come directly under the notice of Ihe people receiving letters from the Dominion. Without doubt, if the stamps are widely distributed, a direct benefit must accrue to the Dominion by reason of an increased outside interest, and business people especially might well spend a few pounds on thus advertising our country and incidently bringing more prosperity to our shores,
