Awaiting the Enemy.

NEW FRENCH WEAPON. The Allies are now waiting for the full fury of the German offensive to break forth. The enemy’s plan seems to be to multiply the number of points of attack in order to prevent the Allied commanders knowing where the big effort will be made The Germans have now attacked at six different points, and the success obtained by them is negligible. A French staff officer says the Allied line is so strongly held at ail points, and the Allied artillery constitutes so formidable a barrier, that any serious attempt on the part of the Germans to take the offensive must cost them terrible losses and end ill disaster. Within the last few days (early in July) the French have come into possession of an important new weapon of defence and attack, particulars of which must be wxtheld, but which is sure to achieve far-reaching results. It can be affirmed that when the French decide that the moment has come to resume the offensive it will be pursued with even greater vigour and under more favourable conditions than the forward movement recently carried out.
