AUCKLAND V. WAIKATO. The football match, Auckland v. Lower Waikato was played under Northern League rules at the Recreation Ground, Huntly, on Saturday. The weather was bad, the latter half of the game being played in heavy rain, which made the ground slippery and the oval so greasy that it became almost impossible to hold. Considering the weather, the attendance was fair. The The combination and the passing of the visitors was good. But for solid footbail the home team were conspicuous, Bookham being the pick of the players. For three parts of the game the Waikato men had by far the best of the game, but towards the end the visitors became most aggressive. Their effort was too late to change the result, and the solid defence, varied by the strong attack of their apponents and the disadvantage of playing with the wind and rain in their faces, stopped all chance of increasing their score. The-game resulted ; Waikato ... ... 19 Auckland... ... G For the local team Bookham scored the finest try of the game, and others were securred by Cook, George Paki, Bookham, and Johnson. H. Peckham and Littlewood each kicked a goal. Spence had luck in geting over the line, while Forsyth’s try was the result of a spendid tricky run. Mr R. Neild had control of the game.

AUCKLAND JUNIORS V. WAIKATO JUNIORS. The curtain-raiser, Auckland Juniors v. Waikato Juniors was rather tame, the Auckland men having the game all their own way from the start, and doing as they wished with their opponents, who did not give a good account of themselves. In combination the visitors put in some fine work. Their passing rushes being well carried out. The game ended Auckland ... ... 16 Lower Waikato ... 3 Mr W. Parkes acted as referee.
