Mr. W. W. Warnock, of Auckland, visited Huntly on Wednesday. Messrs Bollard and Thompson are “up to the eyes ” in electioneering matters. “ King” Te Rata is at present suffering from a severe attack of rheumatic gout. Mr and Mrs Barnsdale, of Auckland, are at present visiting Mrs Lit tie pro ud; Sergeant - Detective Cooney Was in the mining town last Saturday and again yesterday. Mrs Bull, whose husband has gone to the front, is at present visiting Mrs G. M. Fraser, Raynor’s road. Mr Thos. Black, who was in Huntly on Wednesday, received a very warm welcome from his numerous friends. Mrs J. Stewart, who has been suffering from a bad attack of pneumonia, is progressing satisfactorily. Mr J. Furniss is vigorously prosecuting his campaign in the northern portion of the electorate. Mr Alf Peckham is recovering —but very slowly —from the , burns sustained in the recent , mining disaster. On account of tho illness of her daughter, Mrs Delaney, Mrs Darby, senr., was hurriedly summoned to Newstead. Miss Jeannie Brownlie is mak- : ing capital progress after the 1 operation she recently under - went in the Waikato Hospital. Master Willie Peckham has i undergone an operation which j was most successfully performed by Dr Savage in Auckland. Mr Geo. James, we regret to state, has been a patient in the Hamilton Hospital for the pastthree months. His condition has been critical for some time. Messrs Alison, Gordon and W. J. Settlers everywhere appreciate tho many services which the Government candidate has rendered to his constituents, and-heartily admire the unostentati >us and kindly way in which lie has worked on behalf of the electors as a whole. Mr Bollard is hopeful not only of re-election, but of success by a larger majority than ever. Mr W. D. Thompson, the Liberal candidate for Raglan, had a very successful meeting at Taupiri on Saturday evening last, about 120 electors being present. The candidate spoke for an hour and a quarter. A vote of thanks, amended to one of confidence, was carried by an over-whelming majority. He addressed a well attended meeting of electors at Poke no on Wednesday evening last. A vote of thanks and confidence given for Sir Joseph Ward. Mr Furniss, the Democratic candidate, delivered an address at Pukenui lately. The meeting, which was presided over by Mr E. Sefton, was fairly well attended.
