PLANE TRAGEDY
CREW OF TWO KILLED (Per Press Association—Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, December 11. Striking a fence when attempting to land in a paddock at Loitbfield, about 10 o’clock, an Oxford Airspeed bomber burst into flames and the crew of two were incinerated. One engine was flung 100 yards from the scene of tin* tragedy. The occupants were Leading Aircraftsm.in Basil Rawdon Hastings Sharp, whose father is F. J. Sharp, and resides at 87 Lytton Road, Gisborne, and 1 Leading Aircraftsman Leslio Wright, whose mother is Airs L. Wright and resides at 44 Wcka Street, Frankton Junction. The aircraft, which was piloted by Sharp, with Wright as passenger, was engaged in an instrument flying triangular cross-country flight from Wig ram. it crashed at the junction of Leithfield Beach road and the Alain North road. The cause of the accident is unknown. A court of inquiry will be held.
