SCOUT AWARDS
FOR BRAVERY.
(Per Press Association— Copyright). WELLINGTON, December 7. A silver medal for gallantry of the Boy Scout Association was awarded to Scout lan Peach, of Tauinanumi. It is announced the Dominion Chief Scout, Lord Galway approved of the award. Peach, aged fourteen, during floods jn the King Country in February, plunged into the Wanganui River and s'vain with a lifeline 150 yards to a man in a very dangerous position. The ’boy succeeded iu reaching him and made fast the line and returned safely along it, accompanied by the man he had saved. In making a recommendation for the award. Scout officials pointed out that to swim 150 yards in a flooded river is no mean feat, even for a grown man. The Cornwell decoration awarded in October to Scout Stanley Cole of Wellington, was presented to him in the presence of Scout Leaders by the Gov-ernor-General at Government House.
