AUTOMOBILE ASSN.

WESTLAND BRANCH MEETS At a meeting of the Westland branch of the Canterbury Automobile Association, held on Monday, the President (Mr G. IT. Chapman) presided over a fair attendance of members. The minutes of last' meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence inward was read and received and outward approved. Evacuation Scheme in Case of Emergency: It was resolved to communicate with the Home Guard offering to co-operate in any scheme for emergency evacuation promoted by that organisation. Road Signs: The President reported on the visit of Mr Pickles, Chief Service Officer for the Association, to this district, and on the inspection by him of the condition of the road signs in the district and the erection of several new signs asked for by this branch. Hokitika Aero Club Free Kindergarten wrote thanking the Association for warning signs erected adjacent to the Kindergarten building. It was resolved to have further signs erected at Lake Kanieri indicating Dorothy Falls road. Camping Grounds: Advice was received from the secretary of the parent body that- the owner of Monica Park, Christchurch, had now provided an excellent camping ground at the park with all usual conveniences. The camp is situated on Ferry Road, opposite Woolston school. The Westland Racing Club wrote affirming its advice that it could not allow the use of its course as a camping ground.
