OBITUARY

The death occurred on Sunday evening at the Reefton Hospital or Mrs Flowrenee Elliston, who was bom SO years ago at Sligo, Ireland. She had resided in the Inangalma district for 54 years, and was predeceased by her husband 20 years ago. She is survived by three sons.

ALEXANDER. FLEMING. It, is with extreme regret that we record the death of Mr Alexander Fleming, the well-known settler of Kokatahi, which, took place at Westland Hospital, last evening. The deceased had been in a serious condition for some time past, and the end was not unexpected. He had only been admitted to the hospital a snort time before the end came. Deceased was a native of Dunedin and 77 years of age, and suffered from the effects of mining work at Reefton, afterwards living at Ross, before he took up farming at Kokatahi, where, he has resided for over 30 years. Deceased leaves a family of three daughters (Mrs Hay, of Gore, and Misses Annie and Myrtle Fleming, of Kokatahi), and four sons (William, Herbert, Victor, and Hardy Fleming, all well-known residents of the district). Messrs William Fleming, of Kanieri, and James Fleming, of Kokatahi, are brothers, and Mrs Annear, of Motuekn, is a sister of the deceased. To the bereaved the sympathy of a w ide circle of friends will he extended. The. funeral will leave the Hotel Empire to-morrow morning.
